Bauxite is a sedimentary rock and the main source of aluminum. It consists mostly of the aluminum minerals gibbsite (Al(OH)₃), boehmite (γ-AlO(OH)), and diaspore (α-AlO(OH)), mixed with iron oxides goethite and hematite, the aluminum clay mineral kaolinite, and small amounts of anatase (TiO₂) and ilmenite (FeTiO₃ or FeO.TiO₂).
Gimpex added bauxite to its portfolio of industrial minerals and, over time, developed the expertise and network to effectively market the product. Since 2014, Gimpex has been supplying bauxite to leading aluminum producers in both India and China.
