Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is a by-product of the iron-making process in a blast furnace. When molten blast furnace slag is rapidly quenched with water, it forms granules rather than solidifying into a crystalline structure. This rapid cooling process results in a glassy, granular material that is non-metallic and primarily consists of silicates and aluminosilicates of calcium.
Key Properties of GBFS:
- Glassy, non-crystalline structure
- Pozzolanic or latent hydraulic properties
- Light grey to off-white in color
Tapping the experience and expertise developed over decades of handling of Bulk Minerals and scrap metal, Gimpex undertakes import of GBFS and delivers to our customer.
